The Goals of the HVRSSC are:
- to close the gap in student performance in identified low performing schools and support efforts to make "adequate yearly progress";
- to improve the performance of identified school districts as measured by VESID's [Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities] Key Performance Indicators;
- to assist schools in raising the achievement of all students by making appropriate program choices and selection of interventions, including aligned and focused professional development;
- to improve the coordination of programs and services between regular and special education in low performing school districts;
- to coordinate the services of networks in a region to low performing schools; and
- to assist schools and school districts with comprehensive technical assistance in planning and grant applications [Comprehensive System of Personnel Development (CSPD), Comprehensive District Education Plan (CDEP), No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (Reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act {Title I}), School Improvement/School Choice, and Comprehensive School Reform (CSR)].
The Hudson Valley RSSC offers levels of service and support that are focused on identified schools and districts based upon SASS and VESID information.
RSSC work includes:
- Technical assistance;
- Needs assessment and data analysis;
- Coordination of resources;
- Comprehensive planning;
- Professional Development;
- Best practice resources; and,
- Facilitation and training.
An emphasis of the Hudson Valley RSSC is the collaboration and development of regional partnerships which enhance the work of all the individual programs.
