Today’s Goals

-          An outline of an Internet Safety Education Plan to take back to district for further discussion and implementation

Requirements

-          CIPA

-          New York State requirements?

AUP

-          Change stigma of the AUP as just a document  that needs to get signed to be able to use the computers and the Internet

-          Same policy for all grade levels is recommended

-          Sign new form every year

-          Save signed forms for x number of years

-          Send home in separate mailing

-          Keep general in written terms, educate in specific terms

Education

-          Teach “the right thing to do”

-          Post parent resources on district website

-          Host parent education night

-          Topics:

o   Internet Ethics

o   Citizenship

o   Identity theft

o   Copywrite
