• Inclusion is providing specially designed instruction and support for students with special needs int he context of the regular education setting. Educators involved in inclusion must understand that classrooms are becoming more and more diverse. The needs, interests, abilities, and learning styles of diverse learners will be determined and applied to facilitate the learning process. Lesson plans will meet the NYS learning standards. At the end of the course, each educator will be able to incorporate strategies that meet the needs of the differentiated classroom. The course will align with the NTE standards. NYS learning standard: ELS, MST, SS, & INT.
  • Candidates will develop a unit of study that meets the learning standards for the state one teaches in. The purpose of this unit will be to allow teachers to incorporate it into their classroom by integrating technology into the unit plan. The needs, interests, abilities, and learning styles of diverse learners will be determined and applied to facilitate the learning process. A range of teaching/learning methods, media, and instructional technology will be selected that enhance and individualize activities for diverse learners. Candidates will utilize Microsoft Office and the Internet into their unit plan. Rubrics and assessments will be developed for the unit plan. At the end of the course, each educator will leave with a unit plan ready to be utilized in his/her classroom. The course will align with the NTE standards.  NYS Learning Standard: ELA, MST, SS, INT.

  • Making the Most of the SmartBoard
  • Participants will acknowledge that writing is a valuable tool for helping students to communicate and will discover ways to incorporate writing into all content areas. The focus will be on curriculum development and movements between disciplinary boundaries. Lesson plans will meet the New York State Learning Standards. At the end of the course, each educator will be able to incorporate different strategies for integrating writing across the content areas. . NYS Learning Standard: MST, ELA, SS, INT.
